FAQ
Here are some common questions that our customers ask about our wood and delivery procedures. If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact us any day of the week.
What types of wood do you sell?
We offer seasoned Ironbark and Mixed Hardwoods, which are sourced from a reputable supplier. As a member of the Firewood Association of Australia (member no. 46), we ensure that the wood you receive is of high quality.
What is the moisture content of your wood?
For wood to burn well, it needs to have a moisture content of less than 25%. Our wood is tested on site once it arrives and typically has a moisture content of 10-15%, which makes it easier to light, burn hotter and longer.
What do you mean by "seasoned"?
To allow the wood to dry out and harden up, firewood needs to be seasoned before it can be burned. Freshly cut "green" wood will not burn well and can create a lot of smoke. All of our wood has been seasoned for at least seven years.
What are your delivery days?
We deliver six days a week (Monday to Saturday) from 7am. When you place your order, please let us know your preferred delivery day and time (either 7-9, 9-12, 12-4, morning, or afternoon) in the notes field at checkout. While we will do our best to accommodate your requests, we cannot always deliver to a specific time due to the high volume of orders.
Is there a delivery charge?
Yes, there is a delivery charge for all firewood orders from our yard. However, we offer free pick-up from our yard. When placing your order online, please select your suburb to see the delivery charges. You can view our delivery charges here
What if I have a narrow driveway or tight access?
We have a fleet of trucks of different sizes to accommodate all types of driveways. For tight or narrow access, please request one of our Auto Tippers, which are only 1.9m wide, require a minimum of 2m clearance and have a maximum load of 2 tonnes. There is no extra charge for these trucks, but you must request them when placing your order either by phone or by mentioning it in your notes at online checkout. If you require this type of truck but do not request it, your wood will be tipped at the bottom of your driveway or nature strip.
What if I have a steep driveway?
Our drivers will only deliver where it is safe for them to do so. They will not risk unstable or slippery access or access where steep drop-offs or cliffs are involved. In such cases, your wood will be left where it is safe, either on the nature strip or at the bottom of your driveway. If your driveway gets slippery when it rains, please let us know when you place your order so we can avoid any issues when delivering. We take great care, but we do not hold responsibility for damages caused by trucks slipping on driveways.
What size is your wood?
Our logs are split and cut to a ready-to-use size of 250mm-350mm, which is approximately the size of a loaf of bread, with some pieces being slightly larger or smaller.
We also offer double split firewood. This is the standard wood size split in half again. This is done here in our yard and available all year round. It is also called Pizza Split, Pizza Cut or Oven wood, as it is smaller, easier to light and good for pizza ovens, small fireplaces and cooking.
Do you have any wood other than Ironbark?
While we stock Ironbark year-round, we do get other types of wood into our yard as the firewood season progresses. If you're interested in other varieties of wood, check the Firewood tab at the top for current availability or call us to inquire about our current stock.
Can I pay for my order with cash on delivery (COD)?
We no longer accept cash on delivery for orders. Instead, you can place your order by calling us at (02) 9986 1223 and pay via EFT or come to our store to pay with cash. For online orders, payment must be made via credit card at the time of checkout. Please note that EFT Direct Deposit orders require payment before unloading any goods. We do not accept any form of cheque payments.
