FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some common questions about our firewood, accessories, and delivery service. If you need help with anything else, feel free to contact us.

What types of wood do you sell?

We stock high-quality seasoned Ironbark and Mixed Hardwood firewood, sourced from reputable suppliers.

As a member of the Firewood Association of Australia (Member No. 46), we are committed to supplying properly seasoned, quality firewood.

What is the moisture content of your firewood?

For firewood to burn well, it generally needs a moisture content of under 25%.

Our wood is tested on site once it arrives and typically sits around 10%–15% moisture content, making it easier to light, burn hotter, and burn longer.

What does “seasoned” mean?

Seasoned firewood is wood that has been dried properly before burning.

Freshly cut or “green” wood contains too much moisture, making it harder to light and more likely to produce smoke, poor heat, and excess ash.

Our firewood is properly seasoned so it is dry, ready to burn, and performs the way good firewood should.

What size is your firewood?

Our standard firewood is generally cut and split to a ready-to-use size of approximately 250mm–350mm.

Most pieces are around the size of a loaf of bread, although some pieces may be slightly larger or smaller depending on the natural shape of the timber.

Do you sell smaller wood for pizza ovens or small fireplaces?

Yes — we also offer Double Split Firewood.

This is our standard wood size split in half again, making it smaller, easier to light, and ideal for:

  • Pizza ovens
  • Small fireplaces
  • Fire pits
  • Cooking applications

You may also hear this referred to as Pizza Split, Pizza Cut, or Oven Wood.

Do you sell wood other than Ironbark?

Yes — while we stock Ironbark year-round, we may also have other firewood varieties available throughout the season depending on supply.

You can check the Firewood section of the website for current availability, or contact us if you are chasing something specific.

How quickly will my firewood be delivered?

In most cases, firewood orders are delivered within 1–3 days of ordering.

During colder periods and peak demand, delivery times may occasionally be longer, but we always do our best to get your order out as quickly as possible.

What days do you deliver?

We deliver Monday to Saturday, with runs generally starting from 7am.

At checkout, you can request your preferred delivery day and time window in the order notes:

  • Morning
  • Afternoon

We’ll always do our best to accommodate your request, however exact times cannot be guaranteed due to route planning and delivery volume.

Is there a delivery charge?

Yes, there is a delivery charge for all firewood orders delivered from our yard.

When ordering online, simply enter your suburb or postcode to view your applicable delivery. You can also check your delivery charge here.

We also offer free pickup from our yard if you would prefer to collect your order yourself.

Can I pick up my firewood instead of having it delivered?

Yes — we offer free pickup from our yard.

If you would prefer to collect your firewood yourself, simply select the pickup option when ordering or contact us beforehand if needed.

Can I choose where the wood is tipped?

We’ll always do our best to tip your firewood where requested, provided it is safe and accessible for the truck and driver.

Final placement is always at the driver’s discretion based on site conditions, access, clearance, slope, and safety.

If access is not suitable, your wood may need to be tipped on the nature strip or at the bottom of the driveway.

What if I have a narrow driveway or tight access?

We have a fleet of trucks in different sizes to suit a range of access situations.

For tighter or narrower access, we can send one of our Auto Tippers, which are approximately 1.9m wide, require a minimum of 2m clearance, and can carry up to 2 tonnes.

There is no extra charge for these smaller trucks, however they must be requested at the time of ordering — either by phone or in your checkout notes.

If this type of truck is required but not requested, your firewood may be tipped at the bottom of your driveway or on the nature strip.

What if I have a steep driveway?

Our drivers will only deliver where it is safe for them to do so.

They will not risk unstable, slippery, excessively steep, or dangerous access — particularly where steep drop-offs, loose surfaces, or unsafe conditions are involved.

If access is not suitable, your wood will be left in the nearest safe location, such as the nature strip or the bottom of the driveway.

If your driveway becomes slippery in wet weather, please let us know when placing your order so we can plan accordingly.

Do you deliver in wet weather?

Yes — in most cases we still deliver in wet weather.

However, if conditions are unsafe for truck access, or if your driveway becomes slippery or unsuitable in the rain, we may need to leave the wood in a safer location or reschedule if necessary.

Can I order kindling, bags, or accessories online?

Yes — we stock a range of kindling, bagged firewood, fire starters, accessories, and other smaller fire-related products online.

Depending on the item, many of these can be sent via Standard courier delivery rather than truck delivery.

If your order qualifies, the courier option will appear at checkout as Standard.

How does Standard delivery work?

Standard refers to our courier delivery service for smaller items and selected products that can be packed and shipped.

This option is typically used for things like:

  • Kindling
  • Fire starters
  • Accessories
  • Smaller boxed or bagged products

These deliveries are handled by third-party couriers and are calculated automatically at checkout.

Can I pay cash on delivery (COD)?

No — we no longer accept cash on delivery for firewood orders.

You can still order by phone and pay via EFT, or come into store and pay in person if needed.

For online orders, payment must be made by credit card at checkout.

Please note that for Direct Deposit / EFT orders, payment must be received before unloading any goods.

We do not accept cheque payments.
